Green Things grows seasonal crops including annuals, vegetables, herbs, perennials, shrubs and trees. We also grow many of our own tropical plants and cacti. We pride ourselves on growing locally for two reasons. First, our crops are hardy to the local Sonoran Desert environment. They are grown from small starts to withstand the fluctuations and extremes of hot, cold, moist and dry desert conditions. Second, we are supporting the world-wide movement toward environmental consciousness. We hire locally, buy locally, and do whatever we can to support Tucson’s local economy and community. We stand by our name “Green Things”.
We have just started planting our annual poinsettia crop. What starts as tiny “plugs” flourishes into magnificent mature plants in red, pink, and white. We are also planting our crop of fall annuals which will be available for sale beginning in September. On an on-going basis we are planting herbs, vegetables, native trees such as Desert Willow, Mesquites, and Palo Verdes, as well as shrubs and groundcovers.
Come tour our greenhouses and growing grounds. We offer a guided tour every Sunday accompanied by refreshments.
