The arching branches end in a spine, creating terrific cover and protection for birds and small mammals. Birds appreciate the small red berries produced in late summer. The compound leaves have 5 to 9 green leaflets, which turn orange-red in autumn. Little Leaf Sumac is extremely drought and heat tolerant. USDA Zone 6.
