The edible banana plant is a showy, perennial tree that produces bananas in the Summer. It is best to harvest all fruits in the late Summer to allow them to continue ripening. Be aware, this tree does not tolerate any salt in the soil and prefers an acidic loamy soil with plenty of drainage.
