The Beaver Tail Prickly Pear is a low growing, spreading cactus, The flat, fleshy pads of the cactus are reminiscent of beaver tails, hence the name. In the Spring and Summer months the Beaver Tail Prickly Pear produces pink or purple flowers, the flowers ripen into small fruits that attract birds and wildlife.
