This hybrid appears to have been produced from Opuntia basilaris or beavertail cactus and O. microdasys or bunny ears. This selection made by Kelly Jones, our propagator, has all the fine qualities of both. The compact growth form coupled with the intense pink flowers in the spring are a great combination. The plant will spread in width provided there is water available at the edge of the clump. This cactus is covered with tiny hairs known as glochids which are difficult to remove.
