The firecracker Penstemon is a showy and sprawling perennial with tall, upright stems. This plant has lance shaped leathery-green leaves and tubular red flowers. The fibrous root system makes it a perfect fit for water-wise gardens and rocky desert gardens. This plant has also been used medicinally by Indigenes groups; it is said to help soothe spider bites, stomach upset, bleeding, backache, snake bites and burns.
