Acacia craspedocarpa (Leatherleaf Acacia)

Acacia craspedocarpa
Leatherleaf Acacia, Desert Acacia, Broad Leaved Mulga

This evergreen, thornless shrub from Australia has round, thick, leathery gray-green leaf-like phyllodes. This compact shrub or small tree grows slowly to 10 to 15 feet tall and wide, and is reminiscent of a large boxwood. The bright yellow catkin-like flowers appear spring through summer, followed by large flattened seedpods. It performs best in full sun and reflected heat, and needs good drainage.
