This high-elevation agave forms a compact rosette of blue-green lance-shaped leaves. The leaves measure 2 feet long by 4 inches wide, with reddish teeth along the margins and a sharp terminal spine. This plant is solitary in the wild, but sometimes produces offsets under cultivation. A branched flower stalk to 18' tall has clusters of light green flowers. Plant in full sun and well-drained soil. It is native throughout much of the Southwest.
