Aloe striata (Coral Aloe)

Aloe striata
Coral Aloe

Coral Aloe is a plump, luscious looking garden accent. The thick, sage-green leaves are arranged in a short, full rosette. The rosette hugs the ground instead of forming a trunk like many aloe species. Coral Aloe has smooth, spineless leaf margins, which are edged with a wide pink-orange stripe. Plants are generally solitary. Tall, flat-topped spikes of bright coral-orange flowers provide nectar for hummingbirds in the winter months. Aloe striata prefers some afternoon shade in the low deserts, and requires well-drained soil. Native to South Africa.
