Antigonon leptopus ‘Baja Red’ (Red Queen’s Wreath)

Antigonon leptopus 'Baja Red'
Red Queen's Wreath

Queen's wreath is an herbaceous vine that grows rapidly to about 20 feet. Native to Baja California and western Mexico, it is commonly found in arroyos and canyons. In frost-free areas it is evergreen, but it freezes to the ground in most climates. The leaves are heart shaped and about 4" in length. Flower color may be white, pink or red, as in this selection. In frost-free areas flowering may continue year round! In colder areas, cut plants to the ground in early spring, and mulch the roots for greater frost protection.
