Lovers of Anacacho Orchid Tree, Bauhinia lunarioides, are sure to be entranced with this close relation. The two trees are very similar, but this one has clusters of rose-pink flowers, and much larger cloven leaves. It grows slowly to form an umbrella canopy to 12-15 feet tall and wide. Its airy form and deciduous nature make it an ideal overstory plant for aloes, agaves and perennials that appreciate light summer sun protection. This tree will thrive in full sun to part shade, and is a wonderful choice for intimate patio areas. Butterflies are drawn to the flowers.
