This tough, grass-like plant is native to Europe, but is widely adaptable to both dry and humid conditions across the Southwest. Clump forming to about 18 inches tall and wide, this makes for a great low-maintenance grass or can be used as a lawn alternative as well. European Meadow Sedge performs well in full sun to full shade, but does best with some afternoon shade here in the low desert. Drought tolerant once established, but will perform best with some moderate irrigation through the hot season.
