In the early spring pink to purple flowers cover the tree limbs just prior to leaf emergence. Attractive purple seedpods follow the blooms and provide decoration into the fall months. In hot low desert areas such as Phoenix this tree should be planted on north exposures or under the canopy of larger trees for protection from the sun.
