Mangave ‘Inkblot’

Mangave 'Inkblot'
Mangave 'Inkblot', P.P.#29431

Mangaves are new hybrid plants that are just starting to gain interest in the market for their hardiness, faster growth rate, and many unique forms. Mangaves are a cross of two different genera, Manfreda and Agave, to try and get a combination with the best of both parents. 'Inkblot' is a low-growing, spreading form with fascinating foliage. Leaves are thick and dark green, and get covered in red spots which are more pronounced with more sunlight. Plants will grow to a mature height of about 1 foot tall and can spread about 2 feet. Plants will bloom after a few years and will send up tall spikes of lavender and white flowers much like an Agave. Flowering occurs in the late spring to early summer. Individual heads will die after flowering much like Agaves, but plants will offset at the same time to keep actively growing. Plants will do best in full sun to at least half day sun to show off their spots. These plants will do well in containers or in the ground.
