Rio Red grapefruit is a seedless variety of grapefruit with deep red flesh that permeates throughout the entire fruit. It contains nearly less seeds than its counterparts, with sweet and juicy red-to-pink flesh and thick yellow skin. The Rio Red grapefruit is a mutation from the Ruby Red grapefruit tree. It is less acidic but has a sweeter taste, than the Ruby Red grapefruit. The Rio Red grapefruit in comparison is rounder in shape than most grapefruits and is juicier than the other variants.
