Russelia equisetiformis (Coral Fountain, Firecracker Bush)

Russelia equisetiformis
Coral Plant, Coral Fountain, Firecracker Bush

This native of Mexico has naturalized in the West Indies, Florida, and other tropical locations. Its bright green, mostly leafless, weeping branches form a dense mound. Tubular coral-red flowers fill the branches in the warm months. It grows well in full sun to medium shade exposures, is notably salt tolerant, and handles low to high water applications. The flowers attract hummingbirds.
