Leucophyllum laevigatum (Chihuahuan Sage)

Leucophyllum laevigatum
Chihuahuan Sage, Chihuahuan Ranger

This wonderful evergreen shrub has a loose, spiky form and small olive-green leaves. Its casual form makes it an ideal addition to native palettes. Periodically in the summer and fall, during periods of high humidity, it explodes with fragrant lavender flowers. A truly low maintenance plant, it only requires minor shaping in the spring. Plant in full sun and well-drained soils. 'Summer Snow', a selection with refreshing white blossoms, has the same growth habits and cultural requirements as the more common lavender-flowering form.
