Rhus trilobata (Three Leaf Sumac)

Rhus trilobata
Three Leaf Sumac

This fast-growing deciduous shrub ranges across the western U.S., and Canada, and south into Mexico, at elevations from 3000 to 10000 feet. The aromatic leaves have three dark green leaflets that change to yellow, orange, or red in the fall. In the spring, dense clusters of tiny yellow flowers appear before the new leaves, followed by fleshy orange-red fruit. Plant in full sun to part shade, and provide good drainage.
