Senna wislizenii (Shrubby Senna, Shrubby Cassia)

Senna wislizenii
Shrubby Senna, Shrubby Cassia, Cassia Wislizenii

One of the more widely cultivated Senna native to the Americas, this winter deciduous shrub differs from its Australian counterparts in that it blooms from early summer well into the fall months. The showy, bright yellow flowers occur in clusters at the branch tips. The compound leaves have 3 to 7 bright green leaflets. This woody shrub has a rounded form, growing 5 to 6 feet tall and wide. Shrubby Senna is very heat and drought tolerant. It blooms more profusely when allowed to become very dry between deep irrigations.
